Heads stuck in the cattle panels

My goats can go for months without getting their head stuck in a cattle panel and then all of a sudden they all want to do it.  I have one buck that I did a very poor job of disbudding that has some bad scurs.  Honestly they are more like horns with flat ends.  He has been really good about not sticking his head through the cattle panels until this week.  We have had to cut him out of the panel everyday. Now he is rubbing off on my 2012 junior doelings.  Three of them had their heads stuck through one square  today.  One of them was choking and the other two just kept on eating while poor Cadoodle turned blue.  Luckily we had left the bolt cutters by the buck pen in case we needed to cut him out again.  One snip and a quick bending of the wire upward and they were free. Tomorrow one of them will probably get stuck in a different square.  Why can't they stick their heads through the square that has already been cut?
You should see the panel where I kept my LaMancha Buck, A TX Tornado.  Every single square had been cut to get him out at one time or another. We decided that he just wasn't very smart. Now the three doelings that were stuck this afternoon just happened to be his daughters.  Like father like daughter I guess.

I just opened a letter from ADGA advising me that
Ch Briar-Bay W Pug Muffin is now SGCH Briar Bay W Pug Muffin.

I am not very knowledgeable about the Superior genetics program so was not expecting any of my animals to receive this designation.

Puggie is one of my favorites and has given me three daughters in the past two years.  Two of her kids have their dry legs and I am looking forward to them freshening this winter.

Congratulations to Pug Muffin and she will get an extra serving of feed this evening to celebrate.

In honor of our Veteran's, I am posting my only child's picture in his Army uniform taken the day he graduated from West Point, May 2012.  He doesn't have his bars yet since we were about to pin them As a Mother, I know what his future holds and it scares me but I am also very proud that he has chosen this path to take.
Kyle never had an interest in the goats although he was raised on goat milk and always mentions that fact to people visiting looking at the goats.  We have joked that he got his intelligence from drinking goat milk since he certainly didn't inherit his math genius from his parents. He continues his training at Fort Benning, GA and will eventually end up at Fort Hood in Texas as his first duty station. Back home to Texas after being gone for four years.  NY is a long way away and we did not get to see him very often and he our only child.  Makes it even harder. BUT He will be home for Thanksgiving and Christmas so we are looking forward to spending some time with him.

I have had a busy two weeks at work so I have let my goat blog slide while I tried to keep up with everything else.  I "think" I have all of the goats bred except for two juniors that I am holding back for another month or so.
I had left Swede Farm J Princess Bluebell in with the young Alpine buck for 6 weeks so I felt pretty safe moving her back to the main pen so I could move the Alpine buck and have another breeding pen open.  Yeah, you guessed it. Princess was in raging heat last week.  She was batting her eyes at the Saanen buck.  Now he is a handsome lad being an AI son of Companeros Lots of Style.  But I tried to explain to her that she is an Alpine and he isn't.   She ignored me. So I moved bucks around again and put Princess in the pen with the little Alpine buck.   She ran from him.  Straight over to the fence where the Saanen was.  Wagging her tail 90 miles an hour.
I had the bright idea that I would just hold her for the Alpine buck.  Won't try that again.  She almost killed me.  Not sure if my arm will ever fit back into the shoulder socket. Left her in the pen with the Alpine overnight and if she comes back into heat I will just put her in the pen with the Saanen and love my Experimentals that she will give me.
