In honor of our Veteran's, I am posting my only child's picture in his Army uniform taken the day he graduated from West Point, May 2012.  He doesn't have his bars yet since we were about to pin them As a Mother, I know what his future holds and it scares me but I am also very proud that he has chosen this path to take.
Kyle never had an interest in the goats although he was raised on goat milk and always mentions that fact to people visiting looking at the goats.  We have joked that he got his intelligence from drinking goat milk since he certainly didn't inherit his math genius from his parents. He continues his training at Fort Benning, GA and will eventually end up at Fort Hood in Texas as his first duty station. Back home to Texas after being gone for four years.  NY is a long way away and we did not get to see him very often and he our only child.  Makes it even harder. BUT He will be home for Thanksgiving and Christmas so we are looking forward to spending some time with him.

hanks for sharing the article, and more importantly, your personal experience of mindfully using our emotions as data about our inner state and knowing when it’s better to de-escalate by taking a time out are great tools. Appreciate you reading and sharing your story since I can certainly relate and I think others can to
