Memorial Day

This day is very emotional for me because I have a son in the Army. This is my 2Lt who is currently in Army Ranger School and therefore has no means to communicate other than letters. As older parents of an only child, we were not expecting him to choose to attend a military academy when he graduated from high school but he did and graduated from West Point May 2012. He will serve five years to pay back for his college education and he signed on for an additional three years to guarantee that he would branch Infantry. Anything can happen in eight years. BUT we are very proud that he has chosen to serve his country and whatever happens I have to remember that this was a choice he freely made. Love you son.

Since my husband is raising bottle calves with goat milk, I thought he needed more milk for them.  So I bought him his own personal goat. He actually was a little excited and said he could now buy another bottle calf. He likes her because she is big.  She does kind of make my little yearling LaManchas look smaller than they really are.

We are going to the Brenham Dairy Goat Show Saturday so today was my second clipping day.  I am still  not finished so tomorrow will be my third clipping day.  I hate clipping goats but it has to be done. This is Dotcom. Named dot since she has a brown dot on the top of her neck which you can't see from the side.  Otherwise she is white. Dotcom is an Experimental from my wattle line.  Every descendent of Pug Muffin has wattles.

It is soooo tiring being a baby Alpine doeling.  A tummy full of nice warm milk and she just crashed and used a concrete block for a pillow. Brother is on guard duty and looks wide awake. The chocolate LaMancha doe  is also asleep with her head propped on the fence. Guess this is a girl thing.

Happy Mothers Day to me !!!

I think I am safe with posting this picture since my son is in Ranger School in the Mountains of Georgia with no access to technology.  This was on his 8 hour pass after completing the first phase.  Can we say sleep deprived?
Ranger School has not been easy for me.  I joined a parent support group and I think I was better off not knowing what they had to do to survive the program.
BUT I am sure is  wishing me a Happy Mothers Day by mental telepathy and I thank him for being such a good son. Spoiled rotten as an only child of older parents but none the less, a good son.  And I raised him on goat milk which explains him being a math genius since he certainly didn't inherit that from his parents. So YEA for goat milk.

This little darling is a day old and is my first non white kid by Dream-Fire EZ Cunningham.  She is a dark chocolate so her name will be Dark Chocolate since her dam is Chocolate Chip. Single doeling.  Of course, I had an order for a buck but not to be,

My three little doelings by Dream Fire EZ Cunningham had to be double paneled to keep them in since they were so tiny at birth.  They are growing like weeds now and I am hoping to show at least one of them at Brenham and/or Weatherford.
