![]() The girl's egg production had dwindled to three eggs every couple of days. We eat more than that every morning. I actually bought a dozen eggs from Wal-Mart. I was blaming it on the hens molting and the days getting shorter so I had put a light on them but had to turn it on and off and sometimes I would forget. A dear friend that obviously knows way more than I do about chickens told me to put a light on them 24 hours a day and not to worry about it. I can now say that it worked. We are back up to 18 eggs day and counting. Thanks Charlie. The two brown/black hens look like that are gossiping about the Light Brahma Rooster behind his back. Shhhh. We won't tell.

Maybe they're talking about how handsome he is! I really want a light brahma hen. I have more eggs than I know what to do with and only 5 hens- I need to find more ways to use them!

I have a dark Brahma hen and a light Brahma rooster. I have an incubator so I hatch my own chicks. That is fun so I have to be careful I don't hatch too often. Anyway, I will put my pair in another pen and collect eggs and hatch this spring. If I have light ones you are welcome to them. I also have Buff brahmas, Orphingtons, Wyandottes, Black Marans, Black Copper Marans, some Easter Eggers, one splash Marans, and one speckled sussex rooster. He is a loner but was pretty and he free ranges so we let him stay. And one Cochin although I have no idea if it is a him or a her.

Oooh I'd love that! Thanks!! I love orpingtons and marans as well, and I was very excited about Easter Eggers but mine STILL hasn't started laying, and the Barred Rock I have of the same age has been laying for almost a month now. I made some deviled eggs today, they were so much more delicious knowing where they came from!
